BNB verzeichnete 2025 ein außerordentlich erfolgreiches Jahr und erreichte am 13.10.2025 mit fast 1.370 USD ein neues Allzeithoch. Der von Binance geschaffene Token gehört nun zweifellos zu den fünf führenden Kryptowährungen, direkt hinter Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT und XRP.

Dieser Anstieg ist ziemlich bemerkenswert für einen Vermögenswert, der erst vor etwas mehr als acht Jahren auf den Markt kam. Damals konnte man während des ICO 2017 einen BNB für gerade mal 15 Cent erwerben.

Von Anfang an hat BNB gleich mehrere Zwecke erfüllt. Es wurde zunächst als Utility-Token für die Binance-Exchange eingeführt, mit dem Nutzer Handelsgebühren zum ermäßigten Satz begleichen konnten.

Im Laufe der Zeit gewann es an Bedeutung, indem es zum nativen Token des Ökosystems von BNB Chain wurde und Transaktionen, Gas Fees und On-Chain-Operationen ermöglichte. BNB bietet auch Zugang zu Funktionen wie Launchpad und Launchpool und festigt damit seine Position als zentraler Vermögenswert der umfassenden Infrastruktur von Binance.

Wie alles begann: die Architektur und das Ökosystem hinter Binance

BNB entstand im Zuge der ersten großen Phase der weltweiten Einführung von Krypto – zu Beginn des Bullenmarktes 2017, der den Bitcoin-Kurs erstmals über 10.000 USD steigen ließ. Das ICO wurde im Juli 2017 auf Ethereum gestartet, wenige Monate vor der Eröffnung der Binance-Exchange durch Changpeng Zhao und Yi He.

Durch den rasanten Aufstieg von Binance, das innerhalb von nur 180 Tagen zur weltweit größten Krypto-Börse wurde, erlangte BNB sofortiges Engagement und praktische Anwendbarkeit. Zu dem Zeitpunkt waren auf der Plattform lediglich fünf Token gelistet: BTC, ETH, LTC, NEO und BNB.

Binance trug zum Aufbau des Ökosystems bei, indem es wichtige DeFi-Primitive von Ethereum übernahm, wobei sich PancakeSwap als BNB-Chain-native Alternative zu Uniswap herauskristallisierte. Diese frühen Protokolle zogen dank deutlich niedrigerer Gebühren und schnellerer Ausführung im Vergleich zu Ethereum während des überlasteten Zyklus 2020–2021 schnell Millionen von Nutzern an.

Nach dem Start des Mainnets am 18. April 2019 migrierte BNB im Jahr 2020 vom Netzwerk Ethereum zur heutigen BNB Chain. Laut DefiLlama ist die BNB Chain nach Ethereum das zweitgrößte Layer-1-Ökosystem hinsichtlich des dezentralen Handelsvolumens und das drittgrößte hinsichtlich der täglich aktiven Nutzer.

Am 15. Februar 2022 wurden Binance Chain und BSC offiziell unter der Marke BNB Chain vereint. Der Name „BNB“ spiegelt das Leitprinzip des Ökosystems („Build and Build“) wider und unterstreicht dessen Fokus auf kontinuierliche Innovation und Community-orientierte Entwicklung.

Die BNB Chain basiert auf einer Dual-Chain-Architektur: Die BNB Beacon Chain verwaltet Governance und Konsens, während die BNB Smart Chain Smart Contracts und dezentrale Anwendungen abwickelt.

Das breitere Ökosystem umfasst auch opBNB (eine Layer-2-Rollup-Lösung), zkBNB (ein Zero-Knowledge-Rollup) und BNB Greenfield, ein dezentrales Datenspeichernetzwerk, das zur Unterstützung der Web3-nativen Datenverwaltung entwickelt wurde.

Die Tokenomics von BNB

Bei der Einführung wurden 200 Mio. BNB geprägt, von denen 100 Mio. während des ICO verkauft wurden. Der verbleibende Bestand wurde unter dem Binance-Team, den Entwicklern des Ökosystems und den frühen Mitwirkenden aufgeteilt.

BNB zeichnet sich durch sein deflationäres Wirtschaftsmodell aus und basierte ursprünglich auf einem vierteljährlichen Rückkauf- und Verbrennungsprogramm, das aus einem Teil der Einnahmen von Binance finanziert wurde. Dieser Ansatz reduzierte schrittweise das zirkulierende Angebot, indem BNB auf dem Markt zurückgekauft und die Token dauerhaft vernichtet wurden.

Im Jahr 2021 wurde das System auf BNB Auto-Burn umgestellt, einen transparenten und vollständig automatisierten Mechanismus, der durch eine On-Chain-Formel gesteuert wird. Sie bestimmt die Anzahl der pro Quartal verbrannten Token anhand von zwei Variablen: dem durchschnittlichen Marktpreis von BNB und der Gesamtzahl der auf der BNB Smart Chain erzeugten Blöcke, die als Indikator für die Netzwerkaktivität dient. Im Schnitt werden pro Quartal etwa 2 Mio. BNB aus dem Umlauf genommen, wobei die genaue Menge von den Marktbedingungen abhängt.

Parallel dazu vernichtet der Real-Time Burn (BEP-95) einen Teil der Gas Fees jeder Transaktion dauerhaft. Mit zunehmender Netzwerkaktivität werden mehr BNB verbrannt, was den direkten Zusammenhang zwischen Nutzung und Token-Knappheit verstärkt.

Das langfristige Ziel besteht darin, das Gesamtangebot auf 100 Mio. BNB zu reduzieren. Stand 26. November 2025 wurden mehr als 64 Mio. BNB-Token verbrannt.

Die Infrastruktur von BNB Chain

Das Ökosystem der BNB Chain hat sich zu einer der aktivsten und vielfältigsten Umgebungen in der Kryptoindustrie entwickelt, die dezentralisierte Finanzen, Gaming, soziale Anwendungen, Infrastrukturdienste und Plattformen für reale Vermögenswerte umfasst.

Eine tragende Säule dieses Ökosystems ist seine Stablecoin-Layer. Während BUSD einst eine zentrale Rolle spielte, führte der regulatorische Druck im Jahr 2023 zu einem Ausgabestopp neuer Coins, was einen starken Rückgang des Angebots zur Folge hatte. Die Liquidity hat sich seitdem in Richtung USDT und USDC verlagert.

BNB Chain hat auch eines der erfolgreichsten Projekte des Jahres hervorgebracht: Aster. Diese dezentrale Börse (DEX), die von YZi Labs unterstützt wird – einem Unternehmen, das mit Changpeng Zhao, dem Mitbegründer von Binance, in Verbindung steht –, hat ein rasantes Wachstum erlebt. Infolgedessen hat die Aktivität in der Blockchain erheblich zugenommen und das Handelsvolumen ist auf ein Niveau gestiegen, das seit dem Zyklus 2021 nicht mehr erreicht wurde.

Gleichzeitig stärken neue vertikale Märkte das Ökosystem von BNB Chain. Das opBNB-Layer-2-Netzwerk reduziert erheblich die Transaktionskosten und unterstützt Anwendungsfälle mit hohem Durchsatz wie Gaming und soziale Anwendungen, während BNB Greenfield einen dezentralen Speicher bietet, der speziell auf datenintensive Web3-Plattformen zugeschnitten ist.

Makro-institutionelle Trends verstärken diese Dynamik zusätzlich. Die Spekulationen um einen möglichen US-Spot-BNB-ETF nehmen weiter zu, während wir die Gründung der ersten BNB-Krypto-Treasuries wie Seascape und Jiuzi Holdings miterleben. Auch das nationale Krypto-Anlageinstrument von Kasachstan, der Alem Crypto Fund, hat BNB als erste offizielle Akquisition getätigt.

Vor kurzem hat BlackRock angekündigt, seinen 2,5 Mrd. USD schweren tokenisierten Treasury-Fonds BUIDL auf die BNB Chain auszuweiten, während Binance nun BUIDL als außerbörsliche Sicherheit akzeptiert. Diese Integration bietet institutionellen Händlern neue Tools zur Kapitaleffizienz innerhalb des Binance-Ökosystems.

Perspektiven und Risiken

Die größte Schwäche von BNB ist der Grad der Zentralisierung innerhalb seines Validator-Sets, das etwa 26 Validatoren umfasst – im Vergleich zu stärker dezentralisierten Netzwerken wie Ethereum eine relativ geringe Anzahl.

Ein weiteres erhebliches Risiko ist die Wahrnehmung, dass BNB weiterhin eng mit Binance verbunden ist. Sollte die Exchange mit operativen oder regulatorischen Herausforderungen konfrontiert sein (wie die jüngsten Vorwürfe der Unterstützung illegaler Transaktionen zeigen), könnte dies direkte Auswirkungen auf den Token haben.

Binance hat immer wieder betont, dass BNB Chain unabhängig arbeitet, obwohl die Exchange schon früh in das Ökosystem involviert war und weiterhin in dieses investiert. Im Laufe der Zeit hat die Firma bewusst ihr Branding aus dem Netzwerk zurückgefahren, um die Bemühungen um Dezentralisierung und regulatorische Trennung zu unterstreichen.

Als langfristiges Ziel wird die Förderung eines autonomen, Community-orientierten Ökosystems genannt, das nicht von einer einzelnen Instanz kontrolliert wird.
