Im November 2024 erreichte Bitcoin ein neues Allzeithoch, nachdem „Pro-Krypto“-Kandidat Donald Trump die US-Präsidentschaftswahl gewonnen hatte. Die Medienberichterstattung über Kursrallyes treibt normalerweise die Nachfrage nach Bitcoin an. Trotzdem fragen sich manche Anleger, ob es jetzt zu spät ist, um noch einzusteigen und von den Renditen sowie der Diversifikation zu profitieren, die Bitcoin bietet.

In diesem Artikel schauen wir uns die kurz- bis mittelfristigen Preisprognosen für Bitcoin an, die von Finanzexperten erstellt wurden. Anschließend stellen wir verschiedene Möglichkeiten vor, wie man in den Markt investieren kann, und erklären, warum es sich auch lohnen kann, Altcoins zu halten.

Seit Satoshi Nakamoto Anfang 2009 den ersten Transaktionsblock geschürft hat, hat Bitcoin mehrere beeindruckende Rallyes erlebt – ganz zu schweigen von den Abstürzen. Da so viele Faktoren eine Rolle spielen, ist es schwierig, den zukünftigen Kursverlauf vorherzusagen. Dennoch deuten Prognosen von professionellen Investoren darauf hin, dass Bitcoin noch Potenzial nach oben hat. Das Forschungsunternehmen Bernstein erwartet, dass Bitcoin bis 2025 die 150.000-Dollar-Marke erreichen wird, da Kapital in die von der US-Börsenaufsicht Securities and Exchange Commission Anfang 2024 genehmigten Spot-ETFs fließt. Die britische Bank Standard Chartered ist der Ansicht, dass die zyklische Natur (wiederkehrende Muster) des Marktes Bitcoin bis Ende 2025 auf 250.000 Dollar treiben könnte. Der optimistischste Ausblick kommt von Cathie Wood, Gründerin von Ark Investments, die prognostiziert, dass Bitcoin bis 2030 aufgrund institutioneller Adoption und der Nachfrage nach Spot-ETFs einen Wert von bis zu 3,8 Millionen US-Dollar erreichen könnte. JP Morgan hingegen behauptet, dass der wahre Wert von Bitcoin bei 45.000 US-Dollar liegt. Allerdings erwartet Anthony Scaramucci von Skybridge Capital, einem alternativen Asset Manager, dass der Wall-Street-Riese seine Meinung ändert, sobald die regulatorischen Rahmenbedingungen angepasst werden. Zuvor hatte er vorhergesagt, dass Bitcoin im Jahr 2024 die 100.000-Dollar-Marke erreichen würde.  

Zurück zur These von StanChart: CoinShares hat bereits erörtert, wie einige der einzigartigen Eigenschaften von Bitcoin seine Preiszyklen antreiben. Zum Beispiel reduziert sich ungefähr alle vier Jahre die Blockbelohnung für Miner um 50 % – ein Ereignis, das die Krypto-Community als „Halvings“ bezeichnet. Solange die Nachfrage konstant bleibt, sollte der anschließende Rückgang des Angebots den Bitcoin-Preis steigen lassen. Das untenstehende Diagramm zeigt diesen Effekt in der Praxis und wie er besonders stark in den Monaten vor und nach den Halvings wirkt.

Wann ist der beste Zeitpunkt zum Investieren? Den Markt timen versus DCA 

Investoren haben zwei Optionen, wenn sie eine neue Position in ihr Portfolio aufnehmen. Eine Einmalinvestition bietet das Potenzial für erhebliche Gewinne, wenn der Zeitpunkt stimmt, kann aber auch schnell zu einer Achterbahnfahrt der Gefühle werden – besonders bei einem so volatilen und stark schwankenden Vermögenswert wie Bitcoin. Die Alternative besteht darin, Kapital schrittweise in den Markt einzubringen, eine Strategie, die als Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) bekannt ist.

DCA bedeutet, regelmäßig in ein Asset oder ein Produkt zu investieren, wie zum Beispiel ein Krypto-Exchange Traded Product (ETP), unabhängig von der Marktrichtung. Die Größe der Investition kann ein fester Betrag oder eine feste Menge sein, und die Intervalle sind typischerweise monatlich. Die Theorie hinter DCA besagt, dass Investoren mehr von einem Asset kaufen, wenn der Preis niedrig ist, und weniger, wenn er hoch ist, was die durchschnittlichen Kosten pro Einheit senken sollte. Außerdem nimmt es die Emotionen aus der Entscheidungsfindung während eines Bärenmarkts, da die Versuchung, eine Position zu verkaufen, geringer ist. Zwischenfälle wie Crashs können zudem Gelegenheiten bieten, Vermögenswerte zu stark reduzierten Preisen zu kaufen. Natürlich gibt es auch Nachteile bei diesem Ansatz, die Investoren berücksichtigen sollten. Wer Cash in einem Bullenmarkt hält, verpasst potenzielle Renditen, während andererseits häufige Handelsgebühren DCA teurer machen können als eine Einmalinvestition.

Wie passt Bitcoin in ein ausgewogenes Portfolio?

Die Volatilität von Bitcoin bedeutet, dass Investoren genau überlegen müssen, wie viel sie davon halten. Untersuchungen von CoinShares zeigen, dass eine relativ kleine Allokation optimal ist. Dies wird durch die Performance mehrerer Modellportfolios bestätigt, einschließlich Strategien, die von einigen der erfolgreichsten professionellen Investoren der Welt entwickelt wurden. Wie die untenstehende Tabelle zeigt, führt eine Zuweisung von 4  % bis 7  % in Bitcoin zu einer deutlichen Steigerung der jährlichen Renditen jedes Portfolios, während der maximale Drawdown (der größte einzelne Rückgang von Höchst- zu Tiefststand) und die Volatilität nur begrenzt eine Rolle spielen. Viele Altcoins liegen hinter Bitcoin zurück: Eine Chance zur Diversifikation? 

Während Bitcoin mit Abstand die größte Kryptowährung ist und 59  % der gesamten Marktkapitalisierung ausmacht (Stand: 22. November 2024), können Altcoins eine zusätzliche Diversifikation des Portfolios bieten. Allerdings wurden nicht alle Altcoins gleich entwickelt. Das Krypto-Universum umfasst laut CoinMarketCap über zehntausend Coins. Einige stammen von seriösen Projekten wie Ethereum und Solana und haben sich als langlebig erwiesen, während andere wenig Nutzen oder Wert bieten. Untersuchungen zeigen, dass zwischen 2013 und 2022 fast 2.300 Coins obsolet wurden, hauptsächlich aufgrund niedrigen Handelsvolumens, aber auch Betrug spielte eine bemerkenswerte Rolle.

Angesichts der Stärke der letzten Rally könnten Investoren sich fragen, ob es nun zu spät ist, um in Bitcoin zu investieren. Obwohl exakte Prognosen aufgrund der Vielzahl von Einflussfaktoren auf den Markt schwierig sind, glauben verschiedene Analysten, dass Bitcoin noch Wachstumspotenzial hat.

Eine Einmalinvestition könnte zu attraktiven Renditen führen, aber sie kann auch emotional belastend sein. Daher könnte eine Strategie wie Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA), bei der unabhängig von den Bedingungen regelmäßig Kapital in den Markt eingebracht wird, eine bessere Option sein.
