La settimana 23 ha registrato una volatilità elevata nel comparto delle azioni legate alla blockchain, trainata da un più ampio sentiment di avversione al rischio nei titoli tecnologici e dei semiconduttori, oltre che da una forte correzione di Bitcoin e del mercato crypto nel suo complesso. Nonostante la debolezza dei mercati, il quadro macroeconomico statunitense rimane resiliente: i dati sui nonfarm payrolls hanno sorpreso positivamente, la disoccupazione è rimasta stabile al 4,3% e gli indicatori hanno mostrato segnali limitati di una recessione imminente. Tuttavia, il dato più forte sul mercato del lavoro ha spinto al rialzo i rendimenti dei Treasury e riacceso il dibattito sulla possibilità di un rialzo dei tassi da parte della Federal Reserve entro la fine del 2026, creando un ulteriore ostacolo per le azioni growth e gli asset crypto. Sul fronte normativo, il contesto è risultato più costruttivo: la CFTC ha aperto la strada ai future perpetui crypto regolamentati negli Stati Uniti attraverso approvazioni che coinvolgono Kalshi e Coinbase, mentre il CLARITY Act continua il proprio iter al Senato dopo essere stato approvato dalla Commissione Bancaria del Senato, mantenendo vive le speranze per un quadro normativo più ampio sulla struttura del mercato crypto statunitense.

Principali sviluppi della settimana 23 per le azioni blockchain

  • Performance dell’Indice: L’Indice ha registrato un calo del 2,9% questa settimana, ma ha sovraperformato in modo significativo Bitcoin, che è sceso del 16,1% a causa di deflussi diffusi dagli asset crypto e di una minore propensione al rischio. Anche i dati macroeconomici hanno contribuito alla pressione sui mercati: i nonfarm payrolls di maggio hanno sorpreso al rialzo con 172 mila nuovi posti di lavoro contro un consenso di 88 mila, mentre il dato del mese precedente è stato rivisto a 179 mila da 115 mila. Il rafforzamento del mercato del lavoro ha spinto al rialzo i rendimenti dei Treasury e i mercati ora prezzano con decisione un rialzo dei tassi della Fed entro la fine del 2026, aggiungendo ulteriore pressione agli asset rischiosi sensibili ai tassi, tra cui Bitcoin e le azioni crypto.

  • I componenti dell’Indice Coinbase e Robinhood hanno beneficiato di un importante sviluppo nella struttura del mercato crypto statunitense, poiché la CFTC ha aperto la strada ai future perpetui crypto regolamentati. La CFTC ha approvato il contratto future perpetuo su Bitcoin di Kalshi e, separatamente, ha confermato che Coinbase Financial Markets può offrire ai clienti statunitensi accesso ad alcuni contratti perpetui di Deribit come future esteri, creando percorsi regolamentati verso una categoria di prodotti storicamente dominata da piattaforme offshore e decentralizzate. Poiché i future perpetui rappresentano uno dei più grandi mercati di trading crypto a livello globale, il cambiamento è particolarmente positivo per piattaforme come Coinbase, Kraken e Gemini, che potranno ampliare la propria offerta regolamentata di derivati e trattenere una quota maggiore dei flussi di trader attivi sul mercato domestico. Anche Robinhood beneficia di questa evoluzione grazie alla sua crescente presenza nei contratti evento, nel trading attivo, nelle criptovalute e nell’accesso ai mercati retail, con i future perpetui regolamentati che potrebbero ampliare nel tempo la gamma di prodotti ad alto coinvolgimento disponibili per gli investitori retail statunitensi. L’annuncio ha invece pesato sugli operatori di borsa tradizionali come CME, Cboe e ICE, poiché gli investitori hanno valutato la possibilità che le strutture di prodotto native del mondo crypto possano erodere quote di mercato ai tradizionali business di future e opzioni. Sebbene CME mantenga un focus più istituzionale e il suo CEO abbia evidenziato i rischi legati alla leva finanziaria e alle liquidazioni automatiche, la lettura generale è che l’evoluzione della struttura del mercato crypto stia aumentando la concorrenza per gli operatori storici.

  • IREN ha annunciato il suo primo campus di data center in Australia, assicurandosi un sito pianificato da 800 MW a Bundey, nell’Australia Meridionale, con accesso alla rete ad alta tensione e messa in servizio prevista dal 2028. Il progetto estende la presenza infrastrutturale AI di IREN nell’area APAC, sfruttando la rete elettrica australiana fortemente alimentata da energie rinnovabili e la connettività in fibra sottomarina verso Singapore, Indonesia, Corea del Sud e Giappone.

  • Robinhood ha completato l’acquisizione di WonderFi, ottenendo una presenza regolamentata nel mercato crypto canadese attraverso Bitbuy e Coinsquare, aggiungendo circa 300 mila clienti WonderFi e portando il numero totale di clienti internazionali finanziati di Robinhood a oltre 1 milione.

  • Galaxy ha lanciato una desk OTC istituzionale dedicata ai mercati predittivi tramite la propria divisione Global Markets, debuttando con una transazione da 10 milioni di dollari su Kalshi insieme all’hedge fund crypto-native Arca, legata all’esito del CLARITY Act. L’offerta consente a hedge fund, family office e investitori istituzionali di accedere ai mercati basati sugli eventi con dimensioni maggiori e maggiore discrezione rispetto alle interfacce retail, permettendo al contempo a Galaxy di strutturare esposizioni ai mercati predittivi insieme a coperture su azioni, materie prime e strumenti macroeconomici.

  • Hut 8 ha collocato 4,25 miliardi di dollari di senior secured notes investment grade per il progetto di data center Beacon Point, aggiungendo un altro importante traguardo finanziario alla propria strategia di espansione nelle infrastrutture AI. Le obbligazioni, completamente ammortizzabili e con scadenza nel 2042, sono prive di ricorso verso Hut 8 Corp.; i proventi dovrebbero finanziare il progetto del data center da 352 MW in Texas, la sottostazione elettrica, le riserve e i costi di transazione.
