Indagine CoinShares 2026: cosa fanno realmente gli investitori facoltosi con gli asset digitali

Abbiamo chiesto a investitori con almeno 500.000 USD da investire perché detengono crypto, quanto ne detengono e cosa si aspettano dal proprio gestore patrimoniale. La speculazione rappresentava il 9% delle motivazioni principali indicate. Diverse altre risposte contraddicono ciò che il settore ha sempre dato per scontato su di loro.

Esiste una storia rassicurante sulle persone facoltose e la crypto. Sarebbero arrivate tardi, inseguirebbero un prezzo, e se ne andrebbero non appena il prezzo smettesse di salire. È una storia che non ha mai avuto bisogno di prove, perché quasi nessuno si è preso la briga di interpellare le persone che descrive.

Quindi lo abbiamo fatto. Tra l'11 maggio e il 5 giugno 2026 abbiamo condotto un sondaggio online su 2.230 investitori in sette mercati: Stati Uniti, Regno Unito, Francia, Germania, Italia, Svezia e Svizzera. Ogni intervistato deteneva almeno 500.000 USD in attività investibili, esclusa l'abitazione principale e qualsiasi altra proprietà immobiliare, e il campione era suddiviso equamente tra chi possedeva da 500.000 a 999.999 USD e chi possedeva 1 milione di USD o più. I campioni erano bilanciati per genere ed età, il questionario è stato adattato per ciascun mercato affinché termini come "gestore patrimoniale" avessero lo stesso significato a livello locale, e la rilevazione sul campo è stata condotta per noi da Savanta.

L'obiettivo era semplice. L'anno scorso avevamo intervistato 500 investitori facoltosi negli Stati Uniti. Quest'anno volevamo un punto di riferimento internazionale: non solo quanti investitori facoltosi detengono asset digitali, ma perché li detengono, quanto ne detengono, dove li acquistano e cosa si aspettano dalle persone che gestiscono il loro denaro. Ecco quattro dei risultati. Il resto si trova nel report.

La speculazione è la ragione meno citata

Tra chi detiene asset digitali, interrogati sulla motivazione principale per investirvi, la speculazione, ossia operazioni a breve termine e inseguimento della volatilità, rappresentava in media il 9% delle ragioni indicate. Non ha mai superato l'11% in nessun mercato. Le motivazioni strategiche, apprezzamento del capitale nel lungo periodo e diversificazione del portafoglio, rappresentavano il 40%, più del doppio della categoria successiva. L'interesse per la tecnologia e le ragioni correlate proprie della crypto ammontavano al 19%. La copertura dei rischi ammontava al 13%.

Lo stesso schema emerge quando gli investitori descrivono se stessi anziché le proprie ragioni. Tra quattro profili di investitore proposti, il Trader di breve termine era il profilo attivo più piccolo in ogni singolo mercato, con un picco dell'11% nel Regno Unito e un calo al 3% in Svezia.

Questo conta perché il settore crede qualcosa di diverso. Nel 2026 European Wealth Management and Digital Assets Survey pubblicato con Citywire, a 261 gestori patrimoniali europei è stato chiesto perché, secondo loro, i clienti esitano sugli asset digitali. La seconda risposta più comune, citata dal 52% di loro, era che la crypto è speculativa. Confrontate questo con quanto affermano gli investitori in questo sondaggio: la speculazione è la più piccola tra le ragioni che indicano per investire. I due dati non sono direttamente confrontabili, poiché uno rappresenta una quota di gestori che indica un ostacolo e l'altro una quota di motivazioni indicate dagli investitori. Ciò che conta è l'ordine di classifica. I gestori collocano la speculazione vicino al vertice di ciò che pensano trattenga le persone; le persone stesse la collocano in fondo a ciò che le attrae. Si tratta chiaramente di un disaccordo su cosa stia realmente accadendo.

Non è più un comportamento di minoranza

In tutti e sette i mercati, più della metà degli investitori facoltosi detiene asset digitali: dal 53% in Svezia a circa il 70% negli Stati Uniti, nel Regno Unito, in Germania e in Svizzera, con la Francia al 66% e l'Italia al 58%.

Il dato più rivelatore è quanto ne detengono. Tra chi ha investito, le allocazioni medie si concentrano strettamente nell'intervallo tra il 12% e il 15%, e lo fanno in mercati con culture del rischio e regimi normativi molto diversi. Un'allocazione del 15% è circa quanto detengono gli investitori sofisticati in private equity o materie prime, classi di attivi che hanno impiegato decenni per guadagnarsi il proprio posto. Gli asset digitali hanno raggiunto un peso simile in meno di dieci anni, e lo hanno mantenuto attraverso una grave flessione.

Il Bitcoin è l'ancora, non il portafoglio

Il Bitcoin è detenuto in media dall'80% degli investitori facoltosi in asset digitali, salendo all'87% negli Stati Uniti. Quasi mai viene detenuto da solo. Sette su dieci detengono bitcoin insieme ad altri asset digitali, e i portafogli composti solo da bitcoin rappresentano in media il 9% degli investitori, con un intervallo dal 5% negli Stati Uniti al 15% in Francia. Ethereum e le stablecoin seguono rispettivamente con il 59% e il 57%.

Chi ha più denaro è chi chiede aiuto

Questo è il risultato che non ci aspettavamo fosse così sbilanciato. In tutti e sette i mercati, l'88% degli investitori riconosce di non avere conoscenze sufficienti per investire in asset digitali con piena fiducia. Nel frattempo, il 95% ritiene importante che un gestore patrimoniale possieda oggi competenze in materia di asset digitali, e tra coloro che sono aperti a servizi di consulenza sull'argomento, il 98% afferma che sarebbe disposto a pagare per averli.

I gestori patrimoniali sono, in ogni mercato analizzato, la fonte di informazioni sugli asset digitali più affidabile di cui dispongono questi investitori. I forum tra pari e le community online si classificano vicino al fondo. Qualunque cosa guidi la crypto retail, non è ciò che guida questi investitori.

Cosa copre il report completo

  • La geopolitica, e il ruolo che agli asset digitali viene chiesto di svolgere come copertura

  • I dati generazionali, incluso quanto di più allocano gli investitori più giovani, quanto intendono aggiungere in più, e quanto sarebbero disposti a pagare per un consulente che comprenda questa asset class

  • Come gli investitori accedono realmente agli asset digitali, e cosa cercano nello scegliere dove detenerli
