L’infrastruttura di mercato genera ricavi da ogni transazione, indipendentemente dalla direzione del mercato. Nella finanza tradizionale, Deutsche Börse incassa commissioni sia nei mercati in rialzo sia in quelli in ribasso: la sua capitalizzazione di mercato di 45 miliardi di euro riflette questo flusso di entrate indipendente dalla direzione.¹

Lo stesso modello si sta ora spostando on-chain. Hyperliquid si è affermata come infrastruttura leader per il trading su exchange decentralizzati, con 2,79 trilioni di dollari di volume nozionale cumulato e 868,6 milioni di dollari di ricavi di protocollo generati dal lancio.² A differenza delle borse tradizionali, di proprietà degli azionisti, questa infrastruttura è programmabile e detenibile tramite token.

La domanda non è se il volume di trading stia migrando on-chain, ma quale infrastruttura sarà in grado di catturare questi flussi.

Cosa fa realmente l’infrastruttura di trading

I mercati tradizionali separano il trading dal regolamento. L’esecuzione avviene su una borsa, ma il regolamento passa attraverso clearing house e sistemi distinti. Hyperliquid unifica entrambe le funzioni in un unico sistema on-chain, in cui matching degli ordini, clearing e regolamento avvengono insieme con piena trasparenza.

Questo elimina i livelli intermedi richiesti dalla finanza tradizionale. Ogni ordine, trade e liquidazione avviene interamente on-chain con finalità in un solo blocco. Nessuna clearing house. Nessun ritardo nel regolamento. Il rischio di controparte è concentrato a livello di protocollo.

Il modello di ricavo rispecchia quello di Deutsche Börse: commissioni generate dal volume di trading, indipendentemente dalla direzione. I volumi giornalieri hanno raggiunto 1,97 miliardi di dollari nelle ultime 24 ore, e la recente volatilità ha dimostrato che la piattaforma può gestire volumi significativamente più elevati nei periodi di mercato attivo.³ A differenza delle piattaforme centralizzate, tuttavia, l’infrastruttura stessa è detenibile e programmabile. Detenibile, perché possedere un token della rete implica detenere un token di governance/utility legato all’economia del protocollo, non una quota azionaria; programmabile, perché le blockchain consentono a chiunque di costruire applicazioni sopra di essa.

La migrazione istituzionale

Le società di trading algoritmico tradizionali sono già attive su Hyperliquid. Wintermute, uno dei maggiori market maker crypto, gestisce strategie di quotazione sofisticate su 76 mercati con circa 185 milioni di euro (199 milioni di dollari) di ordini nozionali complessivi in essere.⁴ L’approccio di market making dell’azienda su Hyperliquid segue metodologie istituzionali di gestione dell’inventario e controllo del rischio.

Questa partecipazione istituzionale riflette la maturità dell’infrastruttura. I trader ad alta frequenza non migrano verso piattaforme per ragioni ideologiche: si spostano dove qualità di esecuzione, liquidità e tecnologia soddisfano i loro requisiti di performance. Quando grandi market maker allocano capitale e algoritmi su infrastrutture decentralizzate, significa che la tecnologia ha raggiunto la soglia di adozione istituzionale.

La migrazione è strutturale, non temporanea. Gli exchange centralizzati tradizionali creano opacità e rischio di controparte che i trader più sofisticati cercano sempre più di eliminare. L’esecuzione on-chain offre piena trasparenza mantenendo la velocità e la liquidità richieste dalle istituzioni.

Cattura del valore ed economia

Il modello economico di Hyperliquid cattura valore da entrambi i lati di ogni transazione. I ricavi cumulativi del protocollo hanno raggiunto 868,6 milioni di dollari, generati interamente dalle commissioni di trading su tutta l’attività della piattaforma.⁵ A differenza delle borse tradizionali, dove i ricavi spettano agli azionisti, il 97% delle commissioni viene utilizzato per buyback e burn dei token, riducendo l’offerta circolante nel tempo.

I rendimenti da staking si aggirano intorno allo 0,5% annuo per i validator, mentre i detentori di token ricevono anche sconti sulle commissioni e diritti di governance. Ancora più rilevante è che i detentori di token sono esposti all’economia delle commissioni del protocollo, in modo strutturalmente diverso rispetto al possesso di azioni di un operatore di borsa quotato.

La struttura delle commissioni scala con il volume. All’aumentare dell’attività di trading, aumentano proporzionalmente anche i ricavi. Il protocollo genera entrate indipendentemente dalla direzione del mercato; tuttavia, il valore dell’esposizione tramite token resta soggetto alle dinamiche del mercato crypto, inclusa la volatilità del token HYPE e le correlazioni tra asset digitali.

Perché l’infrastruttura di trading on-chain è importante

Le borse tradizionali operano come “scatole nere”. Esecuzione degli ordini, logiche di matching e processi di regolamento restano opachi agli utenti. Market maker e trader ad alta frequenza possono sfruttare vantaggi informativi non osservabili dagli altri partecipanti.

L’infrastruttura on-chain elimina questa opacità grazie alla trasparenza programmabile:

  • Ogni ordine è verificabile pubblicamente sulla blockchain

  • La priorità prezzo-tempo è applicata in modo programmatico, non discrezionale

  • Il regolamento avviene istantaneamente senza rischio di intermediari

  • La logica di trading è componibile con altri protocolli e applicazioni

Questo consente prodotti finanziari impossibili nei sistemi tradizionali: perpetual swap con tassi di funding regolati algoritmicamente, margini multi-asset aggiornati in tempo reale e strategie di market making automatizzate eseguite tramite smart contract. Il livello infrastrutturale diventa una piattaforma di innovazione, non solo di elaborazione delle transazioni.

Posizionamento in portafoglio

Per gli investitori istituzionali, Hyperliquid offre esposizione allo sviluppo dell’infrastruttura di trading on-chain. Tale esposizione resta soggetta ai rischi del mercato crypto, inclusa la volatilità dei prezzi dei token sottostanti. La tesi di investimento non dipende dall’aumento dei prezzi delle criptovalute, ma dal trasferimento dei volumi di trading da infrastrutture centralizzate a quelle decentralizzate.

L’orizzonte di investimento è coerente con quello tipico delle infrastrutture. Non si tratta di speculazione a breve termine sui prezzi crypto, ma di esposizione di lungo periodo alla digitalizzazione della struttura dei mercati finanziari.

La tesi dell’infrastruttura

In ogni sistema finanziario, l’infrastruttura di trading rappresenta uno dei modelli di business più preziosi e difendibili. Scala con i volumi, funziona sia nei mercati rialzisti sia in quelli ribassisti e diventa più preziosa con l’aumento degli effetti di rete che incrementano la liquidità e attraggono nuovi partecipanti.

Finora, Hyperliquid ha dimostrato che l’infrastruttura di trading on-chain può soddisfare i requisiti di performance istituzionali offrendo al contempo funzionalità programmabili e trasparenza che i sistemi tradizionali non forniscono ancora. I 2,79 trilioni di dollari di volume cumulato e l’adozione da parte di market maker istituzionali ne confermano la maturità operativa.

La finestra di opportunità riflette la fase iniziale della migrazione da infrastrutture centralizzate a decentralizzate. La maggior parte del volume istituzionale è ancora concentrata su piattaforme tradizionali. Con il passaggio on-chain, l’infrastruttura che elabora questi flussi acquisisce valore crescente.
