Wir haben Anleger mit mindestens 500.000 US-Dollar Anlagevermögen gefragt, warum sie Krypto halten, wie viel davon, und was sie von ihrem Vermögensverwalter erwarten. Spekulation machte 9 % der genannten Hauptmotivationen aus. Mehrere der übrigen Antworten widersprechen dem, was die Branche über sie angenommen hat.

Es gibt eine bequeme Geschichte über vermögende Menschen und Krypto. Sie seien spät eingestiegen, jagten einem Kurs hinterher und würden aussteigen, sobald der Kurs nicht mehr steigt. Es ist eine Geschichte, die nie Belege gebraucht hat, weil sich kaum jemand die Mühe gemacht hat, die Menschen zu fragen, die sie beschreibt.

Also haben wir gefragt. Zwischen dem 11. Mai und dem 5. Juni 2026 führten wir eine Online-Umfrage unter 2.230 Anlegern in sieben Märkten durch: den USA, dem Vereinigten Königreich, Frankreich, Deutschland, Italien, Schweden und der Schweiz. Jeder Befragte verfügte über mindestens 500.000 US-Dollar an investierbarem Vermögen, ohne selbst genutzte Immobilie und sonstigen Immobilienbesitz, und die Stichprobe war gleichmäßig aufgeteilt zwischen denjenigen mit 500.000 bis 999.999 US-Dollar und denjenigen mit 1 Million US-Dollar oder mehr. Die Stichproben waren nach Geschlecht und Alter ausbalanciert, der Fragebogen wurde für jeden Markt angepasst, damit Begriffe wie „Vermögensverwalter" lokal dieselbe Bedeutung trugen, und die Feldarbeit wurde für uns von Savanta durchgeführt.

Das Ziel war unkompliziert. Im vergangenen Jahr befragten wir 500 vermögende Anleger in den USA. Dieses Jahr wollten wir einen internationalen Referenzpunkt: nicht nur, wie viele vermögende Anleger digitale Assets halten, sondern warum sie sie halten, wie viel sie halten, wo sie kaufen und was sie von den Personen erwarten, die ihr Geld verwalten. Hier sind vier der Ergebnisse. Der Rest steht im Bericht.

Spekulation ist der kleinste genannte Grund

Unter denjenigen, die digitale Assets halten, machte Spekulation – also kurzfristige Trades und das Jagen nach Volatilität – als genannte Hauptmotivation für die Investition im Durchschnitt 9 % der angegebenen Gründe aus. In keinem Markt überschritt sie 11 %. Strategische Motive, langfristiger Kapitalzuwachs und Portfoliodiversifikation, machten 40 % aus, mehr als doppelt so viel wie die nächste Kategorie. Das Interesse an der Technologie und verwandte, krypto-native Gründe kamen auf 19 %. Absicherung kam auf 13 %.

Dasselbe Muster zeigt sich, wenn Anleger sich selbst statt ihrer Gründe beschreiben. Von vier angebotenen Anlegerprofilen war der kurzfristig orientierte Trader in jedem einzelnen Markt das kleinste aktive Profil, mit einem Höchststand von 11 % im Vereinigten Königreich und einem Tiefstand von 3 % in Schweden.

Das ist bedeutsam, weil die Branche etwas anderes glaubt. In der 2026 European Wealth Management and Digital Assets Survey, die wir zusammen mit Citywire veröffentlicht haben, wurden 261 europäische Vermögensverwalter gefragt, warum ihrer Meinung nach Kunden bei digitalen Assets zögern. Die zweithäufigste Antwort, genannt von 52 % von ihnen, war, dass Krypto spekulativ sei. Stellen Sie das dem gegenüber, was die Anleger in dieser Umfrage sagen: Spekulation ist der kleinste der Gründe, die sie für ihre Investition angeben. Die beiden Zahlen sind nicht direkt vergleichbar, da die eine einen Anteil der Verwalter betrifft, die ein Hindernis nennen, und die andere einen Anteil der von Anlegern genannten Motivationen. Entscheidend ist die Rangfolge. Verwalter setzen Spekulation weit oben bei dem, was ihrer Meinung nach Menschen zurückhält; die Menschen selbst setzen sie ganz unten bei dem, was sie anzieht. Das ist eindeutig eine Uneinigkeit darüber, was tatsächlich geschieht.

Es ist kein Minderheitenverhalten mehr

In allen sieben Märkten hält mehr als die Hälfte der vermögenden Anleger digitale Assets: von 53 % in Schweden bis zu rund 70 % in den USA, im Vereinigten Königreich, in Deutschland und in der Schweiz, mit Frankreich bei 66 % und Italien bei 58 %.

Die aufschlussreichere Zahl ist, wie viel sie halten. Unter den Investierten gruppieren sich die durchschnittlichen Allokationen eng im Bereich von 12 % bis 15 % – und das über Märkte mit sehr unterschiedlichen Risikokulturen und regulatorischen Regimen hinweg. Eine Allokation von 15 % entspricht ungefähr dem, was erfahrene Anleger in Private Equity oder Rohstoffen halten, Anlageklassen, die Jahrzehnte gebraucht haben, um sich ihren Platz zu verdienen. Digitale Assets haben ein ähnliches Gewicht in weniger als zehn Jahren erreicht und es durch einen schweren Abschwung hindurch gehalten.

Bitcoin ist der Anker, nicht das Portfolio

Bitcoin wird im Durchschnitt von 80 % der vermögenden Anleger in digitale Assets gehalten, in den USA steigt dieser Wert auf 87 %. Es wird fast nie allein gehalten. Sieben von zehn halten Bitcoin neben anderen digitalen Assets, und reine Bitcoin-Portfolios machen im Durchschnitt 9 % der Anleger aus, von 5 % in den USA bis 15 % in Frankreich. Ethereum und Stablecoins folgen mit 59 % bzw. 57 %.

Die Vermögendsten sind diejenigen, die um Hilfe bitten

Dies ist das Ergebnis, bei dem wir eine so starke Schieflage nicht erwartet hatten. In allen sieben Märkten räumen 88 % der Anleger ein, nicht über ausreichendes Wissen zu verfügen, um mit voller Zuversicht in digitale Assets zu investieren. Gleichzeitig halten es 95 % für wichtig, dass ein Vermögensverwalter heute Fachwissen zu digitalen Assets besitzt, und unter denjenigen, die Beratungsdienstleistungen zu diesem Thema gegenüber aufgeschlossen sind, sagen 98 %, dass sie dafür bezahlen würden.

Vermögensverwalter sind in jedem untersuchten Markt die vertrauenswürdigste Informationsquelle zu digitalen Assets, die diesen Anlegern zur Verfügung steht. Peer-Foren und Online-Communitys rangieren nahe am unteren Ende. Was auch immer das Privatanleger-Kryptogeschäft antreibt – diese Anleger treibt es nicht an.

Was der vollständige Bericht abdeckt

Die vier obigen Erkenntnisse sind diejenigen, die wir jeweils in einem Absatz zusammenfassen können. Im Bericht wird die eigentliche Argumentation entwickelt, und er geht erheblich weiter:
