Die Aussichten für Krypto haben sich in der vergangenen Woche eingetrübt, da nun zwei zentrale Gegenwinde die Aussicht auf einen bedeutenden Ausbruch beim Bitcoin-Kurs begrenzen: der Rückschlag beim CLARITY Act und eine restriktivere Federal Reserve. Keiner der beiden Faktoren verändert die langfristige These, doch beide verschieben den Zeitpunkt einer nachhaltigeren Erholung weiter nach hinten.

Die jüngste Botschaft der Fed fiel deutlich restriktiv aus. Die Inflation bleibt zu hoch, und die Fortschritte in Richtung des 2-%-Ziels waren nicht ausreichend, während die Entscheidungsträger die Wirtschaft und den Arbeitsmarkt weiterhin als relativ robust einstufen. Die wichtigere Überraschung war nicht die erwartete Zinserhöhung selbst, sondern die Streichung der bis 2027 erwarteten Lockerungen im Dot Plot. Das stützt den Dollar und die kurzfristigen Renditen und verzögert die Rückkehr jener Liquiditätsbedingungen, auf die Bitcoin typischerweise positiv reagiert. Da der Iran über höhere Energiepreise weiterhin spürbar zur Inflation beiträgt, erscheint eine weitere Zinserhöhung später in diesem Jahr inzwischen zunehmend plausibel.

Das schafft für Bitcoin eine schwierige Ausgangslage bis zum Jahresende. Unserer Einschätzung nach ist ein entschiedener Ausbruch über 80.000 US-Dollar ohne eine spürbare Verbesserung der Inflationsaussichten oder eine deutliche Verschiebung der geldpolitischen Erwartungen unwahrscheinlich. Der Iran-Konflikt bleibt dabei zentral. Ohne Lösung dürften die Ölpreise weiterhin inflationären Druck erzeugen, was der Fed wenig Anreiz gibt, ihre Haltung abzumildern. Damit bleibt Bitcoin einem ungünstigen Liquiditätsumfeld ausgesetzt, obwohl die langfristige monetäre Argumentation intakt bleibt.

Auch der CLARITY Act hat einen bedeutenden Rückschlag erlitten. Der zentrale Streitpunkt bleibt die Ethik-Komponente, wobei beide Seiten Bedenken hinsichtlich der Regelungen zu Politikern und deren Möglichkeit äußern, von kryptobezogenen Vorhaben finanziell zu profitieren. Wir teilen nicht die Auffassung, dass ein Scheitern in diesem Jahr bedeutet, dass das Gesetz bis 2030 vom Tisch ist. Der Entwurf behält seine überparteiliche Relevanz, da er für Stablecoins von Bedeutung ist, und Stablecoin-Emittenten entwickeln sich zunehmend zu bedeutenden marginalen Käufern US-amerikanischer Staatsschulden — zu einer Zeit, in der die Treasury-Renditen erhöht bleiben. Eine überarbeitete Fassung könnte daher relativ zeitnah zurückkehren, möglicherweise bereits Anfang nächsten Jahres.

Die Auswirkungen fallen innerhalb der Krypto-Landschaft zudem ungleich aus. Bitcoin ist relativ abgeschirmt, da sein regulatorischer Status bereits klarer ist. Ethereum und andere Altcoins sind stärker exponiert, insbesondere weil ein Großteil der Stablecoin-Zahlungsinfrastruktur auf Ethereum und ähnlichen Netzwerken beruht. Die Unmöglichkeit, Rendite auszuschütten, mindert zudem die kommerzielle Attraktivität für Banken und andere Finanzinstitute — einer der Gründe, warum das Thema auf so starken Widerstand seitens der etablierten Finanzwelt gestoßen ist.

Der Lichtblick bleibt der US-Anleihemarkt. Die Treasury-Renditen befinden sich bereits auf historisch hohem Niveau, und die Versuche des Finanzministeriums, die langfristigen Renditen durch begrenzte Käufe zu senken, haben bislang kaum Wirkung gezeigt. Sollte die politische Unsicherheit weiter zunehmen und die Renditen noch stärker steigen, könnte sich der Druck in Richtung einer deutlich aggressiveren politischen Reaktion aufbauen. Das würde für die Entscheidungsträger einen unangenehmen Zielkonflikt schaffen: Höhere Zinsen bergen das Risiko, die Schuldenlast des Staates weiter zu verschärfen, während eine aggressive Intervention das Risiko zusätzlichen Inflationsdrucks birgt. In einem extremen Szenario könnte eine entschlossenere Liquiditätsreaktion der Behörden zu einem starken Katalysator sowohl für Gold als auch für Bitcoin werden. Wir betrachten dies weiterhin eher als Tail-Risiko denn als Basisszenario, doch es zählt zu den klareren Wegen hin zu einem deutlichen Aufwärtsausbruch.

Vorerst bleibt das Gesamtbild relativ gedämpft. Sowohl die restriktive Geldpolitik als auch die Verzögerung beim CLARITY Act sprechen gegen einen größeren kurzfristigen Ausbruch, wobei der stärkste Druck voraussichtlich weiterhin auf Altcoins lasten dürfte. Das langfristige regulatorische und geldpolitische Umfeld bleibt konstruktiv, doch der Zeitrahmen hat sich klar weiter nach hinten verschoben.
